The DAAD Helmut-Schmidt-Programme, funded by the German Federal Foreign Office, is designed to nurture future leaders from developing and emerging countries who are committed to advancing democracy and social justice in their regions. The program offers the opportunity to pursue a Master’s degree in fields critical to social, political, and economic development, such as political science, law, economics, and public administration.

- Eligibility:
- To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to meet the following criteria:

- Hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent with above-average academic performance (upper third of class).
- Have a degree in Social and Political Sciences, Law, Economics, Public Policy, or Administration.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to the social, political, and economic development of their home country or region.
- Possess relevant practical experience, such as internships, professional work, or involvement in political, social, or community-based initiatives.
- Provide a compelling statement explaining their academic, professional, and personal motivation for pursuing the program.

Additional Requirements:
- Applicants with a previous Master’s degree must justify their need for another postgraduate qualification.
- The last degree should not be older than six years (issued after 1 January 2018).
- Applicants must not have spent more than 15 consecutive months in a country outside the DAC list of developing countries.

- A monthly stipend of €934 for the duration of the Master’s program.
- Health insurance coverage in Germany.
- Travel allowances for international travel between Germany and the recipient’s home country.
- A study and research grant.
- Rent subsidies and family allowances, if applicable.
- A mandatory German language course lasting up to four months before the start of the Master’s program.
